If you've ever spent any time in Japan, as Rachel has, you will know about Daruma dolls (or Dharma dolls)! To me these looked like little "owl aliens", but Rachel immediately recognized them as the painted paper mache' figures that are give as gifts throughout Japan. They are given as a representation of a wish, intention or blessing for the recipient and there is a wonderful ceremony involved with the giving. So, this seemingly quirky print is actually rich with meaning! As for the fabric, it's a beautiful quality silk/cotton woven, light with a gentle crispness, and semi-opaque. The colors are a perfect combination of periwinkle, navy, pearly white and spearmint (PANTONE 16-3920, 19-3951, 15-5711). It's just the right weight for a shirt, tunic, dress or skirt pattern that requires a lightweight fabric with a cottony drape. Dry clean, or test first if you wish to hand or machine wash. LAST PIECE, 1.5 yds.
