This is a beautiful Italian wool/mohair/poly blend sweater knit in a lovely soft grape tone (PANTONE 18-3812 is close). It has about 40% widthwise, 25% lengthwise stretch, and it's a plain knit stitch, loosely knit (photographed on white to that you can see the texture), flowy, delicate and drapey.
