It's a rib-textured 2-ply matelasse in deep black with teeny raised knots of sparkly thread holding the two layers together. The upper layer has a textured pattern of vertical tucks, and the under layer is more of a flat mesh. Each layer is semi-sheer, but together they are almost entirely opaque.
