From Italian designer deadstock, this is a wonderful yarn-dyed jacquard windowpane plaid, a soft all-wool knit in a jacket/dress weight. The classic windowpane plaid design (2.5" repeat) is knitted in fine whisper white stitches on a midnight blue ground (PANTONE 19-3908 is close, etc.). The back side is a mélange of whisper white and blue, with the same soft texture as the face, which can replace the need for lining in some styles. It has 10% stretch widthwise only, and is opaque and soft with some body in the drape. Not at all dense and smooth to the touch. Both offer patterns and techniques to fuel your creativity and add to your skill set! It would make a fantastic cape, coat, jacket, fitted cardigan, pullover, trousers, cold weather dresses and skirts, etc. Dry clean or treat as you would any fine wool fabric.
