This is a fantastic and unique double cloth fabric from designer Vict0ria Hayes! It actually has three layers, with the top layer a plush and luxurious velvet, the middle layer a thin sponge to give it a "scuba"-like quality, and the bottom layer is a soft viscose jersey. The velvet layer separates perfectly from the other two layers which behave as one. It is a coat/jacket weight with about 20% stretch in the width, but it's very stable and won't stretch out. It is opaque with some body in the drape. The velvet color is black, and the back layer is a medium gray heather. What a fabulous, modern version of the Balenciaga coat this would make! Or, use for any luxurious coat or jacket pattern. Dry cleaning is probably best, although it's worth experimenting to see if it can be machine washed.
