Welcome to EOS Fabrics!
We are located in Northwest Philadelphia, just uphill from the historic fabric mills which shaped this neighborhood's deep roots in American textiles. EOS strives to provide you with a steady supply of quality fashion fabrics from fine suppliers and manufacturers in the U.S. and around the world.
We've got some deep roots as well! "Emma One Sock" was founded in 1994 as a boutique line of children's clothing that was sold all over the US. The name of the company came from the founder's two children, who Linda raised along with the company. When Linda decided to 'retire' the clothing business in the beginning of 2001, she began to sell off her inventory of beautiful European fabrics, and it became apparent that there was a high demand!
EOS is now in a new era! Linda has retired and the legacy lives on with Rachel, a long-time employee who came to love this small, family-like company so much that she made it her own. It took years of mentoring with Linda and exploring each of the many roles within the company. The big move to a new, larger warehouse and a fully updated website brings endless opportunities for this mighty little company.
Deadstock, sustainable fibers and heirloom quality fabrics are the heart of our business. Long before "deadstock" was a buzzword, EOS offered access to "post production" products. These were curated remnants after designers and mills complete their samples for a season or a production run. Some fabrics are one-time-only treasures, others may be reordered. You won't find these fabrics in your local fabric store, but you may spot them on the runway or in ready-to-wear. Things tend to come and go quickly around here, so keep your eye on new arrivals if you enjoy the hunt!
EOS has had the good fortune to collaborate with sewing writer and teacher Shannon Gifford, who wrote many sewing guides and articles for the website until her passing in April, 2010...a great loss to the sewing community. We are also honored to collaborate with the multi-talented Kathryn Brenne, sewing expert, teacher and writer, who has written a series of online sewing articles for EOS that are not to be missed. Kathryn has now retired, but her protégé, Malia Janveaux, has also written several tutorials, and we invite you to check them out as well.
We proudly offer all of our content for free to all, no purchases or downloads necessary. Enjoy!
