Description

Made in Italy for a famous brand specializing in upscale shirting fabrics, this is a stunning cotton twill with a yarn-dyed plaid embellished with dimensional fil coupé. Fil coupé (French for "cut thread") refers to a weaving technique in which extra floating yarns are woven into the ground cloth to create a pattern, then the unused floats are cut away, leaving a soft, floating, or fringed effect. While either side can be used as the face, the clipped yarns are meant to be seen. A mark of superb quality! The "Douglas" design (3.5" pattern repeat) features dusty blue white and steel gray, with a dusty blue daisy motif fil coupé repeating every 3". Opaque and mid-weight, this fabric could be considered a substantial shirting or a medium dress weight. It has a lovely, soft and dry cottony hand, and is perfect for shirtings, shirt dresses, pajama sets, etc. Machine wash in cold or warm water using a gentle or regular cycle. Dry on low to prevent shrinking or preshrink before cutting your pattern. Please test first!
